Clinical Lead Nurse
What does a typical day look like for you?
My role is to bring clinical quality assurance across the design and future new ways of working. I bring clinical knowledge and experience to the table, ensuring that we are capturing best practice whilst engaging with staff across all our partner organisations. I work closely with all many different groups within Cambridge Children's Hospital - workforce, planning, design, fundraising, and patient, carer and staff engagement - to tell the story of the new hospital. I also network across the East of England to ensure that we are working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
What inspired you to join the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Project?
Within my nursing career I have worked in both hospital and community settings, then as a discharge specialist nurse to support children getting home across the East of England. The opportunity to bring clinical knowledge and experience into the project, and support the vision of integrated care and new ways of working, is a true privilege. I am so proud of the work the project team has achieved with all the fantastic contributions of staff, children, young people and families. Together we truly are making change - and a future legacy for all.
Share one meaningful or interesting part of the project that you’ve contributed to
I have learnt so much through collaborating with our health care planners, architects, and construction partners; bringing clinical insight into design, ensuring our future hospital is safe, comfortable, efficient, inclusive and a wonderful place to work; ensuring we are listening to children, young people and families; and developing new ways of working together.

What excites you most about the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital?
We are not just building a much needed specialist children's hospital for the East of England, we are creating new ways of working that will embed best practice within integrated models of care. We are creating a place where children and families are at the heart of everything we do.
