What does a typical day look like for you?

I manage all the IT and digital aspects of the programme, from the cables in the walls to distraction technology to entertainment.

What inspired you to join the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Project?

After nearly 18 years in the Royal Navy, I transitioned into IT and have spent the majority of my career working in the public sector. Joining the Cambridge Children's Hospital project gave me the opportunity to contribute to something truly meaningful. The hospital has the potential to be life changing for children and their families, providing world-class care and support when they need it most. Knowing that my work can help make that vision a reality is incredibly rewarding.

I was the author of our Digital Strategy and currently I’m assisting the Cambridge University Hospital teams to look at the types of technology they want to bring into our new hospital.

Describe the Cambridge Children’s Hospital project in three words

  • Innovative
  • Integrated
  • Transformative

What excites you most about the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital?

What excites me most about the new Cambridge Children's Hospital is the opportunity to help create something that will have a lasting impact on generations of children and families. This is far more than a new building, it is a chance to transform how children's healthcare is delivered across the East of England and beyond.

The hospital will bring together world-class clinical care, research and innovation in a way that can improve outcomes and experiences for young patients and their families. Knowing that the work we do today will help children receive the best possible care at some of the most difficult moments in their lives is incredibly motivating.

I'm also excited by the scale and ambition of the project. Being part of a team that is designing and delivering a hospital from the ground up, with children, young people and families at its heart, is a unique opportunity and a real privilege.
