May 2023 - Cambridge Children's Hospital Newsletter

Welcome to the tenth edition of our project newsletter. This issue includes an update on when we expect our Outline Business Case to be reviewed nationally, as well as reflections on recent visits at two new hospitals in Sweden and the Children's Hospital in Edinburgh. Learn more about what our young ambassadors have been up to in workshops with our design team and read about our exciting summer of events planned around the region, including Luton Carnival at the end of May.

January 2023 - Cambridge Children's Hospital Newsletter

Welcome to the ninth newsletter from the Cambridge Children's Hospital project. This issue includes a round up of all of our activity in 2022, including submitting our Outline Business Case which showcases the vision of our new hospital and the benefits to the region. Our 'Pledge your Support' campaign has received over 500 signatures so far, two of our young ambassadors presented to MPs at Westminster and there's an update on our work to co-design Cambridge Children's Hospital with children, young people and their families. We also have a new-look website!

April 2022 - Cambridge Children's Hospital Newsletter

Welcome to the seventh newsletter from the Cambridge Children's Hospital project. This issue includes some of the amazing patient and public engagement that has kick-started our 2022. We've held in-person and virtual art sessions, a day-long food conference, a special forum for third sector organisations, and our next batch of design workshops are now underway. This issue also includes an update from Project Director Alex White, Lily's story for Rare Disease Day and a new treatment for infant cancer. Finally, we look ahead to some exciting events coming up!

July 2021 - Cambridge Children's Hospital Newsletter

We are very pleased to share with you the latest newsletter from the Cambridge Children's Hospital project. This issue includes an update from Project Director Alex White and news on how our patients and staff are involved in the design of the hospital. You can also read Liam's story, who was treated at CPFT's Darwin Centre, and shares his belief that a children's hospital dedicated to treating mental and physical health together will help reduce stigma for young people like him.

Cambridge Children’s Hospital has launched a website to support its mission to provide care for children in a whole new way.

www.cambridgechildrens.org.uk will take the project though the next exciting phase of its development to build a children’s hospital for the east of England – currently the only region in the UK without one.

Cambridge Children's Hospital Newsletter issue 2

Cambridge Children's is more than a hospital. It is a whole new way of treating children across the east of England.

We have spent the last 18 months working with partners across the region on plans for a specialist children’s hospital. Embedded with genomic and psychological research, it's a hospital we'll build from scratch designed to take care of the whole child integrating physical and mental health. We'll look at the whole picture, not just the illness. And we will lay healthy foundations for every child's whole life.

Cambridge Children's Hospital Newsletter issue 1

Just over a year ago, Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, committed £100 million of public funding for a purpose-built children’s hospital in Cambridge, serving the east of England region – currently the only region in the UK without one.

Cambridge Children's aspires to be more than a hospital. We are seeking a visionary new approach to healthcare for young people across the east of England. We will treat the whole child, not just illnesses or conditions, using all the talent available across the region.
