Celebrating the impact of the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Regional Ambassadors

The Campaign for Cambridge Children’s Hospital unites Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, Head to Toe Charity, and the University of Cambridge in a shared mission: to raise £100 million through philanthropy and fundraising. Dame Mary Archer DBE, Co-Chair of Cambridge Children’s Hospital, reflects on the last five years.

Our group of dedicated Ambassadors, representing the six counties of the East of England have been pivotal in championing the urgent need for the new hospital and the benefits it will bring to children, young people and their families.

A jubilant milestone for the campaign

This November we celebrated a significant moment for our Regional Ambassadors as we recognise their five years of impact and commitment to the Cambridge Children’s Hospital campaign. The Ambassadors relentless determination has been nothing short of inspiring, and it has given me immense pride to work alongside them. They have helped us to raise £20 million, a remarkable milestone and a vital step toward our £100 million goal, to build a hospital that will deliver world-class care for children across the region.

Building a better future for children in Cambridgeshire and beyond

The Ambassadors came together through a shared passion: a belief in a healthier future for our children. What began in 2020 as a plan to secure a few supporters in each county has grown into a network of over 50 Ambassadors, representing the six counties across the region. Their strategic advocacy and phenomenal community engagement have amplified our campaign across the region and beyond. We are profoundly grateful to Helen Pemberton, whose leadership on the Campaign Board sparked this regional movement and whose tenacity continues to inspire extraordinary generosity. They will all leave a legacy that will benefit generations of children and young people.

Our heartfelt thank you

Special thanks to our Lead Ambassadors — The Hon. Selina Hopkins (Suffolk), Anneli Tritton (Essex), Lady Innes-Ker (Bedfordshire), Lady Pilkington (Hertfordshire) and Mary Bolton DL and Anna Stanton (Norfolk) for coordinating an abundance of events, including drinks receptions, glittering galas and golf days. These occasions have not only raised significant funds and helped us climb ever closer to our fundraising target but have sparked important conversations about the urgent need for this hospital and the impact it will have.

A huge thank you to every Ambassador, volunteer, and supporter who has stood behind the Cambridge Children’s Hospital campaign. Together we are building a hospital for the region and for every child who will receive care there.
